my partner works in a cafe for 3-4 days a week
and up in till yesterday she has been getting her tips daily between 15-20 a week
but now her bosses have said that they will be keeping all the tips
and at the end of the year there going to take out all the workers out for a meal and pay for it and all the drinks
so if she works for 45 weeks getting 15pound thats 675pound
and all she is going to get is a cheap meal and a few drinks
that wont cost more than 100
is it illegal for them to make her do that

I always considered tips a personal thanks towards the waiter or waitress that has served you for the way they have conducted themselves and served you etc. So surely if someone has given your partner the money, then it is her property, and unless it states in her contract that all tips have to be given in, she should have the right to keep all tips she recieves, as should every other waiter/waitress there.

i'd just get her to tell customers they no longer accept tips and make bosses pay for xmas meal out of own pocket, or pocket them straight away

Indian I go to takes in all the tips, they just told us to stop leaving tips so the owners get nothing.

Unwritten rule I thought 
Some even feel aggreived if there tips get mixed with other staff and shared out equally so i'm not suprised she's miffed

the thing is one of the other workers
thinks it is a good idea
because she thinks that they will get what ever is left over divided between them

At work (Wickes) we have to hand in any tips that we get given.
Im still yet to recieve a tip
