Basically i have just started a new job working in Payroll.
I previously worked for Corals also doing payroll because i couldnt find an accountancy job to get into.
I am already part qualified with my AAT and was wondering what step to take next whether to do my ACCA or CIMA.
My current firm have offered to pay for me to do my ACCA as they have asked me to to some accountancy work.
Just basically wanted to know if anyone has done these qualifications and what the best one to do would be?

ACCA and AAT qualified
ACCA is best for you if you're in practice... CIMA is more for industry peeps

Well, at the time it only got you exempt from papers 1.1 and 1.2, then they change dit to 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3... so you'll get exempt form the relevant papers in the new qualification (I qualified with the old syllabus which they have just replaced)

Seems like acca is the best option with working in a practice just that when doing my technician level of aat i liked doing the business side of accounts.

Yep avoid CIMA at all costs unless youre in industry and intend on staying their, ACCA is much more flexible

I work in industry but decided to do ACCA rather than CIMA cos as Robbo says it's much more flexible....plus ACCA also offer an option to get a degree (you have to complete the middle stage and submit a project).....
It can be a bit dull but if I look at my wages compared to my mates who do jobs like labouring/bricklaying etc I earn twice what they do and don't have to work as hard.... the money is definitely the best aspect of being an accountant
