Been thinking of buying some decks for some time. Love music and that and would like to be able to do it. But I dont have a clue. Should be getting a few grand rebate next month so though about buying some decent decks like technic 1210. I know its stupid buying these at this price been a beginner but they hold thier value. Anyone got any tips to getting started?

Digital Dj'ing is now getting bigger and bigger every day.

Do some research on some software called Serato Scratch Live.

With this software you use conventional turntables, but to manipulate mp3's using coded vinyl. I use a system like this but with different software.

So you can mix the songs on pc, put it on vinyl and play it on the decks?

I have Stanton STR8-100's...i love them, but would recommend them over a set of Tech 1210's or 1200's (which are the same)

As for Digital Dj'ing/Vinyl Emulation, i can't be bothered to write out an explanation TBH...so here's another helpful Wikipedia link which should shed some light on the concept

Yeah the timecoded vinyl is pretty cool.

My flatmate uses it, not sure what software he has though.
Its great that you can have everything on your laptop and not have to haul about a box full of records.

I imagine things like beat matching must be easier too because you also have a visual display of the songs on ur laptop screen but also the control of the vinyl.
