Yeh nice spec. Just some things to note though, if your going to be running 4Gb memory on 32bit versions of XP and Vista will only utilise around 3Gb of it due to other hardware sharing the rest of the 4Gb MAX address space. 64bit Windows you'll be fine as far as the memory goes. Im guessing you'll be putting those 2 hard drives together in RAID0?

yes raid0.
I've changed a few things around, upped the CPU spec (from a saving off the raptops and PSU/CASE).

Nice, are you planning on running the system standard or overclocking?

much to learn young padawan.

that is a very good board, buy it or the p5k-e deluxe.

you can get a samsung 1TB drive from ebuyer or amazon or £130

dont get that ram with that cpu. no point getting a 1333mhz cpu and ram that will go nowhere near it, you overclocking potential is minimum unless you get faster ram. 4x1gb will be faster that 2x2gb so look for that.

8800GT will be your bottleneck also, look for a 512mb GTS instead

TBH its not had great reviews from what Ive read - atleast not when compared to others.

I'd also consider atleast giving yourself the option of DDR3 on the board (if not a fully DDR3 only board) seems this looks like a fairly 'future proof' system config so far.

Russ, can you point me in the right direction of better ram then?

Im planning on not overclocking it for the time being. I dont see a need to.

I will be purchasing an ATI 4870 x2 when they arrive hopefully in the next 8 weeks or so. This will just be a go between, unless i take 8 weeks to come up with the cash.

And Russ,
With regard to the ram, Im not an expert, but...

The CPU will have a FSB of approx 300mhz (with its own multiplier of 9).

The memory has a multiplier of 2, so 2x300mhz = 600mhz, which is still a lower speed then what ive shown above (c6400 800mhz).

Ive got the P5K-E Deluxe board by Asus but I wouldn't recommend it if running high frequency memory, it has a big problem with PC2-8500 memory, stick with the Abit. I would recommend some PC2-8500 DDR2-1066mhz memory instead of the PC6400 youve got though, as Russ said, it wont even get near it. 1333mhz memory is moving onto DDR3 so with that motherboard id go with some good quality PC2-8500 (Crucial Ballistix etc).
