when i first got my gsi it had a brand new engine fitted for 2800 pounds
the last owner got the cambelt changed and they did it to tight why spend so much money when you could of got it re-coditioned,the engines only got 8000miles on it since ive had it.

What engine was it? Are you saying someone tried to change the cambelt when the car had under 8 thousand miles and did it wrong?

Sorry for the confusion,The old owner had the cambelt changed at 60000miles and it was done to tight which fucked the engine, which now leaves me with a brand new1!!!

My new 2.2 engine from Vauxh cost the same 6 weeks ago
It's a VauxTech engine, a GM recon short unit

My Corsa had a X16XE recon unit fitted by Vauxhall from the previous owner.
She paid £1750 for the new lump, and a year and 20k miles later I paid £1100 for it from her, that was over 2 years ago now though!

well i can get hold of a new c16xe for about £1100.
Is a much better engine than the x16 so if i was getting a new one, thats what i'd go for!!

Yea the inlet diameter is bigger and the head is slightly different. But the lack of ecotec means its not restricted. Also when u put performance bits in they make more of a difference!
