Can anyone explain it's relevance to a bar of chocolate though?

It's not really.
It doesnt need to be. Adverts are to catch people's eye. People will want to watch that and find out whats happening, well most peopl

I kinda understand what you're saying but to me it just makes me think what a stupid fucking advert, not oooh I fancy a bar of Dairy Milk

Yeah, but it's got your attention, like the gorilla one.
Clever bit of marketing TBH.
Even if you say "have you seen that new dairy milk advert, it's fucking gay" to someone down the pub, it's done it's job.

How has it done it's job though? Surely the point of a Marketing Campaign is to get people to purchase their product not think how shit their adverts are?

The point of a marketing campaign is to sell the item, yes, but it's also to get people to talk about the product.
Even if you say the ad is shit, you've passed on the name of the product to someone else and the next time they want chocolate, the first name they'll think of is Dairy Milk.
All they're really after is the name being banded about all over the place, like it is.
The old advert got thousands of people's attention, they will have gained sales from that without a doubt.

Yes... but the only reason it works is because the last advert they did was successful robin.
It's the fact people are going 'you seen the new dairy advert? bit shit aint it... nothing like the gorrila one'
IF the gorrilla one had never existed, we wouldn't even be discussing this 'new daily milk advert' - it'd just be a complete flop of a advert.

The gorilla one sucked though. Mainly because of the Phil Collins soundtrack. Still don't want any more chocolate

'a glass and a half full of joy'
think its saying the chocolates joyfull and fun and nice - which relates to the trucks having fun when no-one else is there, like someone might enjoy precious time with chocolate - fat pies
but because theres NOTHING relating to the barin the actual advert, its meaning's lost and not easy to recognise, which is what an adverts all about

I loved the Gorilla one and thought it worked extremely well.... music match... very good ad
BUT the new one is weird and boring and doesnt work particularly well with the music
The VW Polo Confidence ad is by far the best ad on the tele at the moment
