I might be going to see a corsa breeze 1997, 1.2 and was wondering will this be an 8 valve or a 16 valve???
And if it is a 16v, do these have timing chains or belts?
Cheers

Happy days. That means two less things to worry about.
It was the mans second/wifes car and he sounded quite old on the phone which is normally a good sign. It has done 84000 miles and he his only looking 575 quid for it, so it might be worth a look.

The silver one looks nice and im loving that engine cover.
It seems that some are 8v and others are 16v - even on ebay and auto trader. Is there any way of telling other than reading the 16v badge on the boot?
Do you think i should hold out for a 16v or go for the 8v, if its alright, because its a good price?

My dad used to have an 8v and it never put a foot wrong in 8 years and it was the most economical car he ever owned, but it was awfully slow - although speed shouldn't matter too much as it will only be a first car.

So the 16v says ecotec, and if i remember correctly the 8v just says vauxhall on it. Something for me to watch out for then.
How much is for a new timing belt and is it something i can do at home?
Thanks for all the replies and info so far.

Thanks for the pic mate.
The thing i love about corsas, is that they are so easy to work on, like everything under that bonet looks so accesable and easily identifiable.
