i no ur all goin 2say go for a 2.0 16v but 2 save all the hassle of the loom and everthing i wanna no if a 1.6 or 1.8 8v would work on a 1.2 loom or wat would have to be changed to make it work thanks

Should be loads of information on the site for 1.6 conversions, and you'll still have to change to the 1.6 loom.

Not really. Would need different mounts for a 2.0 16v. 1.6 8v should just go straight in, but will need the loom of the engine.

I wouldn't bother with a 1.8 8v tbh. What's the engine coming out of for both the 1.6 and 1.8?

Save up and get a better engine mate. Hassle or no hassle with the loom, you'll be wanting more power very sharpish with those engines.
