Feel for the familes who lost ones but:

"My view would be to restrict the speed when they first pass their test and to make P plates automatic for two years and also maybe limit the size of the engine of the cars they drive."

When will people learn this isnt the way to stop young people causing accidents. A 1.0 12v corsa can still reach 90 which could cause a fatal crash. It's not the size of the engine or the power a car has its the attitude of the person driving.

I think its mainly the case of they will try anything to reduce deaths on the road IMO.

Not alot really can help but i suppose its a start.

it wont help though because unfortunately most young drivers think they are F1 drivers. I did when i passed. My example through first hand experience is when i passed i had a shit slow 1.2 8v. I managed to write that off doing silly speeds on a road not designed for them speeds, i also experienced lift off oversteer for the first time and panicked. I could have killed me and my mate that night, i got lucky and i learned.

Since then i have a lot more respect for cars and their limits and have driven much faster cars and not even come close to crashing.

You need to reach the people driving and make them respect how a car behaves, maybe more courses should be done on car control.

It was on a part of the A75 in SW Scotland. The main/only road from Carlisle to Stranraer and is always host to deaths and injuries.

Theres one stretch of it, just after a duel carriageway that is downhill. Alot of people top their cars out down this hill, to see what speed they can get etc etc, as usually at night its quite quiet.

These lads did it during the day. they were effectively racing down it, and with it being curved, it adds to the danger and had a head on collision with 1 or 2 cars coming up the hill on the bend. Nobody seems to know the facts of what happened but all we know is 3 people are dead.

Truly ridiculous driving.

Dont be ridiculas, education and learning is the not the way to solve a problem, as that involves spending money!

Much better to just ban and fine. Yeah, that works.

one of the boys pulled out to overtake and hit a car coming the other way head on killing the driver an badly injuring the passenger, which also meant the car he was overtaking was involved in the accident. the boy he was overtaking was racing him. both hadn't passed their tests very long iirc, maybe as little as a couple of weeks. the boy who got the reduced charge lost control due to the accident and hit the crash barriers.

this happened just down the road from me, tbh the piece of road where it happened is notoriously bad as its three lanes and you can use the third lane to overtake going eitherway.

It actually means a better life for some believe it or not. My mate got a phone call from a guy that was caught with a LOT of drugs last year last night. He was in his room watching the football on setanta, drinking cider, dropping pills and using his mobile they've given him. He weeds the garden and plants some seeds in return.

Regardless of that, I doubt anyone would want to go to prison. I wouldn't.

If your caught with someone elses stockpile of gear i'd say a wee room with sky and your own mobile would be just the ticket.

Nah the guy phoned from his cell last night when i was there i heard the conversation word for word. He's a gardener, he weeds some plants in exchange for being locked away from the guy hes lost drugs as well as having sky tv a mobile and being allowed to drink at certain times. Not a bad life for a rotten jakey that was nothing more than a drug runner on the outside.
