What would you say was a comfortable wage to live on?
With no worries of rent, bills, and worrying about money for luxuries?
£30k?
Would you say £30k by 30 years old is a decent target?

I would say so...Could easily live comfortably on that..Depends what kind of lifestlye you want though..
30k would equal about 1800-1900 in your hand per month net.

it depends where you set your sights in terms of 'comfortable' and what part of the country you're in...
would need a combined wage of £50-60k to buy a place down here near london

I wouldn't say so. There's a few people where I work who live in London and they're on 30k a year. Can easily afford £800 a month on the mortgage on that wage.
£30k is easy to live on. You can spend your usual outgoings (petrol, takeaways etc), buy some luxuries some months, aswell as save at the same time.

at 19 id living at home with parents id say 250£ a week after tax is ok to live on but not when you start to look at buying a house

Im not too close, Though not too far from 30k but even still , You take the wage for granted and adjust your lifestyle to suit it.
I.E If you have smaller wage, You have smaller engined car and a smaller house.
If you have a large wage P.M then you have an expensive car, Expensive to run, Bigger house, more holidays etc.
Its not any easier to live on, Just a better lifestyle.

i'm on £25k pa (~£350 week) and i'm comfortable....my rent is £425pm (fixed - bills inc) and i pay everything else - food, entertaininment, phone bill, fuel, what ever is left i'm comfortable. but i am single, i have no morgage, expensive debts (£9k uni loan paid off in small amounts direct from pay packet) i've no kids and only have myself to worry about.....it would all depend on your situation.
Timbaland is right - you adjust to the wage
a mate who is on similar £ has have gf and daughter they are also comfortable but they live together and share the rent etc while is daughter spends most of her time with her Mum (previous relationship) no real answer i guess....but to be comfortable enough to be able to save for a house £30k sounds a pretty accurate figure

im on £13k atm but i live at home so its enough for now. should be over 15k soon which should do me fine and i'll look at trying to find 17.5k+ in a year as that is more than enough to live happily around here

This man speaks the truth, the more you have the more you spend. I started on 10k a year way back when, spent 12k a year. I now earn probably about 45k all in and spend about 50k a year!! It's a vicious circle!

I'm on more then 25 and find it hard to save after all my out goings, I dont buy alot of clothes or anything like that. 35~40k would be ideal.

Im on 20k and have no idea how I could afford to run my own place on it. Just couldnt see it working in this area anyway

I'm on 14k.... can barely afford much after all the outgoings, I'd say I'd be happy on 25-30k as a target in the next couple of years so I can get my own place.
Tempted to go for my job with another company for 17k but its in bristol so not sure I'll be making anything extra after travelling there - which shouldn't be too often really - just nights and stuff. The rest the company give you free train travel

i was on 24k and staying in glasgow in my own flat £400pm then bills on top and was comfortable.
Now I've now got a new job and live at home with the parents till i sort myself a new place. i'm now just short of the 30k mark but still have no money saved at the end of the month
where i stay now is cheaper than the city, i don't pay as much rent, i spend roughly the same on fuel and i dont go out as much as i did. i don't understand where the money goes!!
2 years ago i was on about 16/17k and lived on it but i don't have a clue how!! i just think its a case of the more you earn the more you spend!

Depends on lifestyle Whittie... Im on over £30k at 26 and I still struggle slightly but then I have an expensive nice 2 bed flat that i live in on my own, a nice car that likes to drink petrol and a long commute to work... enough to get me by though
