hay i just got myself a xe'd gsi on sunday and its got a little oil leak (no surprise there) basically iwant to know what oil went in the c20xe i.e what vauxhall put in it from day one? was it mineral oil?

Not sure but i always used gm 10w 40 in my xe.

Not sure but if you put in a car that had a 2.0 xe in it to start with ie early astra mk3 gsi etc into the halfords website or the opieoils website it will list the oil for the car

i use 10w40 in my x14xe so is it the same stuff?

10w40 semi synthetic, same as your 1.4.

exelent.. will get some tomorrow.
needs a little top up as its got a oil leak from the cam cover, sump and the dissy seal....
