Bought this blind the other day with probable head gasket failure.

As you can tell its ex police. 3.0 MV6 omega!
Previous owners thinks it was an ex dog car hence the side exit exhaust but i'm not convinced.

In two minds what to do with it, had intended to break it and maybe use the engine in something, but having had it down the road quickly I am tempted to do the headgaskets and run it for a while!

does it run like shite as if it was the headgaskets? ive done an omega before i left vauxhall that gave all the signs off headgasket but it run perfectly. it was the head exchanger (oil cooler) in the middle of the 'V'

no it runs a treat.
Chap i got it off siad it was the cooler but i was sceptical.
Drinks water and the header has been spewing out mayo so i suspect even if it wasnt headgasket he may have boiled it now!

Side exit exhaust has got me baffled.

ARV would normally have armour. Is the boot floor standard or was the backbox perhaps moved to free up space for equipment?

Boot floor is std with a wooden covering.
Thought mileage was maybe low for a std traffic car at 111k?
Side exit could have been added afterwards i guess but previous owner seemed to think not.

If it was armed response it would have kevlar lined doors, and they would be twice as heavy..unless they changed them used to have them come through vauxhall all the time, used to take 2 men to lift a door off.Only thing i can think for side exhaust is like ian said, re-routed it due to a compartment to store equipment, allthough they had a big compartment behind the handbrake too, inbetween the 2 seats.

hmmm.... heat exhanger wouldnt make it drink water really. it would just mix with the coolant that it sits in causing the mayo

I'd put good money on it being armed response.

There are 4 bolt holes in the floor behind the handbrake, i did wonder if they were for one of those raising flashing lights (great description i know) but then realise there arent any holes in the roof skin!

Well, If they dont have them in the new one's which would be more likely then it seems not all of them back then would be lined.

Wil range from force to force.

Yeah, this wasnt in scotland..this was in merseyside

We had a few other armed response vehicled come through but some didnt have it, seemed to be the ones carrying the heavier armour.

The Merseyside ARVs have armoured bulkhead, front doors and partition behind the front seats.
