.... no not french ducks... quack quack...

I'm looking for some reasonable priced Cannards for the skyline. They dont have to be carbon, ABS plastic would do.

Anyone know of any decent priced ones. £200 odd isnt decent in my opinion.

As far as I'm aware the main function of canards is not downforce production from themselves, but to maximise the effect of the underbody of the vehicle. They create a turbulent effect along the sides of the vehicle which prevents air migrating from the side to the underbody region, thus making the underbody better at producing downforce. So unless you're running a flat floor, and have time to test out various angles on the canards I doubt you'll see much, if any gain! They would look trick tho

na.... have them angled up (if your thinking the same way as me) on the front.... when moving along air will be forced UP, creating downforce at tghe front.

Same principle as a spoiler

A spoiler works by creating a pressure differential across the upper and lower surfaces, this pressure then acts on the area of the wing to create downforce, therefore the bigger the wing the better. With a canard the surface area is so tiny that the downforce produced would be negligible. Also a canard sits on the bumper or airdam, here the flow is at it slowest, so again downforce produced would be neglible.

If you're after front downforce, the way to go without question is a splitter. It doesn't need to be any more complex than a big sheet of plywood. Have it protruding out the front lower edge of the bumper by 3-4 inches (more if you like) . This will produce a lot of downforce on a boxy saloon like a skyboat. The front of the car has a lot of air ramming against it, this air attempts to split between the upper and lower surfaces of the car. The blunt nose of the car will create a stagnation point, a large area of high pressure air. Placing a splitter here will allow that air to push down on it (Force=Pressure x Area) So the greater the splitter area the greater the downforce. Even a tiny pressure over an area the width of the car x 10cm will produce noticeable downforce!

Those are diffusers



Canards aka Dive plates are fitted to the edges of the front bumper

Someone like Veilside in the states?

I know they do them for the S2000, not sure on the Skyline and you'd have to get them shipped over. Cost you far more than its worth TBH.

Would be a good thing to buy from the US atm though as the exchange rate is superb for us.

Regarding purchase, i'd get in touch with a motorsport company, see if they can help you out. I guess any decent firm would know where to get them from.
