Depends on the service. Cambelt will need to be done at certain intervals. Spark plugs, pollen filter etc.

Prices might have changed by now but my local Vauxhall used to charge about £120 for a service on a Corsa 1.2 or 1.4 Corsa. This was a year or 2 ago.

Anything between £110 and £140 for a 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 corsa is good imo.

Thats how much it is at the garage i work at.

Prices vary greatly dependant on whats actually done..

For example:

Our cheapest service comes in at £99, that involves and oil and filter change and an 'express visual check' which is a quick look over the car, and tyre pressures set.

The most expensive is a 40k at around £350 which involves oil, filter, diesel filter / spark plugs, air filter, pollen filter, all levels topped up, tyre pressures done and a look over the car

Those are main VW dealer prices, things like cambelts, brake fluid changes, aircon services are extra.. obviously

To be honest its very easy to service a car my advise would be this..

(1) Have the car MOT'd (when its due obviously)- The checking over of a car on a service is pretty much the same as the checks on an MOT test.

(2) Change the servicable items that you need to - oil, filter, sparkplugs / diesel filter, air filter, pollen filter etc etc very easy to do your self

(3) Top up all your levels

(4) Adjust your tyre pressures - although that should really be somthing you do regularly anyway..

Thats pretty much it, there will be a few things that would have been missed out if it were done properly at a garage eg. Antifreeze strength etc but that would be a service carried out to a reasonable standard at a fraction of the price anywhere would charge

Just some helpful advise

However with me being in my position i would not trust anyone to service my own cars exept myself, and i would not trust any independant round my way (i cant speak for other areas) as i have seen the 'quality' of their work when it comes into us to be rectified correctly...

Shit the bed!?! That was a leisurly 2 hours work on my old corsa, and about £50 worth of parts (at trade club prices from Vauxhall).

I'm not looking forward to having to take the astra in. It'll have already had two oil and filter changes (every 5k) by the time it goes in. Oil was about £50 for 4 gallons of fully synthetic, and the filter was about £3 - Vauxhall want about £135 for the same work i've done .
