been getting a mates 200sx ready for paint, its been an absolute pain in the arse due to the previous owner deciding matt black would be a good idea. so its going back to the way it used to be painted, black roof and bonent and the rest white. did the roof and bonnet over the weekend so decided to give the bonnet at bash at ye olde flatting and polishing, came out not too bad i thought.

before flatting and polishing

after

still a wee bit hazy here and there but that'll be sorted when the full car is done and polished

and some pics of the project so far.

how it looked.

some progress, front end was brought back to bare metal as it only had a piss poor layer of rattle can primer and matt black on it.

primer on wings and bonnet and getting it ready for paint

and some paint.

still got alot of work to do before the white goes on, but its getting there

Pour water on the floor if you're not painting in a booth, that way less crap will get into the paint

But your using over head extraction which means that particles are being picked up from the floor and made air born. You really should wet the floor to prevent this, then your extraction will be used to get rid of all the nasty air born stuff. You'll notice that booths have grated floors which the extraction goes through so that any particles that fall on the floor get sucked out through the extraction system...

i know what you're saying ed, it didnt affect the end outcome tho (the dirt in paint), there was very little. but for doing the body i'll be sweeping out and wetting it to be sure the lower parts don't get dirt in.
