Right, due to me thinking the grommet looking shit, and the fact I have a rust patch on my tailgate, I have decided to bite the bullet and get it into the bodyshop for the tailgate completely resprayed in Arden Blue and the wiper hole filled and I've got an original post 97 boot lock trim to go back on complete with vauhall badge.

My question is, what is the going rate for a Corsa B tailgate resprayed and wiper hole smoothed off? Reason I ask is that I'm getting a quote tomorrow and want to know a ballpark figure from the people who have had this done so I don't get ripped off.

Thanks

i'd say about £200 - £250 for a decent job?

why not get a semi smoothed boot though?

Cheers, thought about semi smoothed but didn't want to faff about getting a solenoid fitted for tailgate release.

Or can the boot be opened from the inside?

the wires are already there if you use the rear wiper to pop the boot just add a solenoid half hours work tops. semi smooth boot would look much better.

Boot can be opened from the inside, but means leaning through the back seats, and you have to have the inner tailgate trim off.

As for the smoothing, should be cheap, but they probly wont paint the full thing anyway, just more near the middle and blend towards the sides of the boot. Id say between 150 and 200.

Ah right, that's cool then. Like the idea of using the rear wiper motor wires to operate the tailgate release

Best place to get said solenoid?

Thanks for the help so far

I've just paid a bodyshop £150 to smooth my wiper hole over and smooth over where the handle/lock is. That's with it being painted Glacier White.

Thanks chaps

Been having a look at some smooth boots and Sportyboys de-wiper and leaving the boot lock on.

I'm 50/50 on both, I want to keep the factory look so want the boot trim left on, yet the smooth look appeals to me but looks to bare.

Not bad, they supply the solenoid, or did you buy it extra?

£10 for a push solenoid from supernovas (not a pull like in your ebay link)

30min job, I would run a new ignition live wire from the fuse box and use the earth from the wiper motor, as if you then knock your wiper switch your boot isn't going to open.

I done mine this way and put a button in the cig lighter

Thinking about it I never actually use my boot. And if I had to, I could just manually open it from the inside. Will save me £20 (Bad month )

I believe you need to have access to the boot for MOT test. may be wrong though.
