Unfortunately i think i will be having to sell the Z4 Due to increases in Petrol and moving further away from work its just become too expensive and the miles are racking up.
And with Spring/Summer round the corner could get a fair price for myn.
Think it might have to be a Diesel Though i wouldn't rule out a good mpg petrol. Needs to have some speed and comfort with it though (maybe not achievable).
Looking to spend about 10-12k
Would love the Astra 888 but too expensive and rare as hens teeth.

Around 25-28mpg. Problem is none of my journey is motorway or main road.

Oh dear.
I'd be looking at a 2 year old Leon, or 3/4 year old Golf for that money. Leon would be my preference

Which model Leon would you suggest?

In the latest model, something like a Stylance trim or whatever its name is with either the 1.9 or 2.0 diesel. 1.9 is a bit slow though - certainly compared to a Z4!!! Not sure an FR will be in your budget unless you go a bit older.....

No idea how much they are these days, but what about an A4 Cabriolet, but the diesel ones? Still got the luxury of the cab in the summer, but can munch the miles etc.
I can't remember who said that because most diesels are 6 speed, town/gear changing driving is rubbish on fuel economy, 'cause you are forever changing gear.

Astra SRi sport hatch and buy a tuning box for a few hundred quid, (or a remap for circa 500) and then get the wheels if you're that bothered. Ok it's not a 888, but it'd probably be just as good if you're not that fussed about the harder suspension or bigger brakes .

Out of curiosity how many miles a year are you doing? I was all set for getting a 1.9 CDti astra until I sat down and figured out it'd cost me an extra £40 odd quid a month to run a VXR - that's doing about 1000 miles a month! Suppose it depends where your priorities lie really, but for me i'd rather pay the extra in fuel and live with a car i really wanted, than somthing that came second best.
