Yet another has come through.
I really could do without this.
Driving the works van at 60mph on the A697, which is a 60mph limit, but, im in a van, so its 50, doh, i forgot.
I really, really need to figure out how to get out of it, anyone got any ideas?
Was a camera van on a bend, i was genuinly doing 60mph, and hadnt been going fast, as we were just heading back to the office.
Sick as fuck.
already got 8 points.
Got 5 points last time i was in scotland, for doing 70mph in works van in a 60mph limit (should have been doing 50mph), and a 220 quid fine, which is a complete joke & i think they will do the same again, which means i get banned & it will screw me up.
Yes i know, i shouldnt have been speeding but for the sake of 10mph on a deserted road its a bit of a joke imo.
Ideas please!
Anyone have any phone numbers of soliciters who deal with this sort of thing?

Sure ive read theres a chance you can do a course, or increase the fine & decrease the points?
I dont drive dangerously, i just drive the vans like i drive a car, and thats what keeps getting me done.

quickly phone the police and say your van was nicked a few weeks ago... take the van to a park and torch it.
sit back and wait for it all to sort itself out.

lorries and caravans have different speeds, but i never realised vans did.
I've never driven a van any differently to a car.

Just one sign, but i've been driving for 7 or 8 years now, so i guess they would expect me to know that you have to do 50, not 60.
Will just wait till the paperwork comes through & pray its no more than 3 points, as that will take me up to 11 points.
I have told the boss that i resign from driving any works vans anymore, or at least till the 1st lot of points come off.
What is it, 5 years or something daft like that?

Aye, and who was driving it?
The lad who was next to me?
I cant just pass the blame onto someone else, especially when he knows who was driving too
Q. When did these rules come in and shouldn't they be changed now?
A. These speed limit rules have been in place for well over 20 years and there are no plans to change these limits to allow vans to be driven at higher speeds because ministers remain to be convinced that it would be safe to do so.

Speed camera's are not enough evidence to hold up in court
Any solicitor worth his wage will argue it and you will recieve no points
People speed, we all do it, and I laugh at people who take the moral highground when someone gets caught
There is only one cast iron way for them to prosecute and for you to have no way out, and thats with VASCAR and even then, charges can be reduced
Speak to a solicitor, ask him about calibration, the visability of the camera van and proof that you were driving
Lots of grey areas, easy to get a conviction quashed, I wish a lazer gun or camera caught me

quote: Speeding Defences
There are a number of potential defences and loopholes to look at to see whether you can succesfully defend a speeding ticket. However, there is no such thing as a 100% guarantee that you will escape a speeding fine or conviction if you are guilty!
I was not the driver
If you were not the driver then you are not guilty of an offence. However, if you were the registered keeper then you are required by law to return the Notice of Intended Prosecution form with the driver's details. Failure to do so will give you six penalty points.
I don't know who the driver was
You are required to make every effort to discover who the driver was. This may involve checking fuel receipts, phone records etc of those people who could have been driving.
It's a company van and I don't know who was driving
You are required to make every effort ("reasonable diligence") to find out who was driving. As an employer you are required to check the licences of those people who you allow to drive the vehicle.
My wife and I shared the driving and I don't know who was driving at the time
This defence was successfully used by Neil & Christine Hamilton. Again you must make every effort to find out who was driving.
You are advised to consult a lawyer specialising in speeding offences if you wish to defend your case.
So, they can give people points, and with my company being so big, if we choose to plead ignorance, im sure they would force us to.
And it was a van im sure.
But saying that, the van seemed to be pointing its arse down the road, so it would have got the rear of me, so would be no picture of who was driving, unless they had a camera in the front / side that i didnt see too?

Chief Inspector Bowman said: "It is the responsibility of the driver to be fully aware of the speed limit wherever they are and whatever vehicle they are driving.
"Unfortunately a number of motorists seem unaware that vehicles such as light goods vehicles are subject to reduced speed limits. Ignorance is no excuse and any offence will come at a cost
Thats that idea out the window then.
