Yeah, not sure about their nurburgring time though... doubt it'll be faster than a veryron tbh.

Did look pretty amazing though

Why?

Have you seen the nurburgring? it's not all about top end speed. It's about carrying speed through corner after corner... I would expect the GTR with it's fancy gizmo's to do this far far better than the heavy veyron.

Ever wondered why Top Gear haven't had a veyron round their test track? because it'd get whooped, not because it's not a staggeringly quick car in a straight line, but just because it's not the best handling car.

Which you'd expect after all it's heavy and gives a nice comfortable ride and still handles fairly well. But some light weight, stiff suspension, proper sorted 'track car' will always beat it.

Veyron no question.

I'd sell it, and buy a porsche Gt3 RS and have spare cash to buy a house near the nurburgring

I'm not saying the Veyron handles bad.... FFS

I'm saying it'll get out handled by a lighter weight, better handling car.

Nurburgring is not about top speed at all, or even acceleration, which is why a 205 1.9 Gti can hassle like 300 bhp cars round there! I'd imagine around the nurburg the heavy weight of the veyron making it have to slow down more for the bends, than a lighter and better handling car.

I rest my point.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e17-yLgTWw0

look how slow it's going through most of those bends!

Normal track it'd be fine, but nurburging has a lot of corners one after another after another... (it's pretty much non stop corners with a couple of straights) meaning a car that can carry it's speed through will go quicker... then when it gets to a straight the veyron will catch up.

You had to try your best not to use a 106 GTi in that example didn't you Paul

Better handling is a bit of a sweeping statement though? I am not questioning your knowledge of the nurberg but it's not that much of a technical track is it?

You say better handling, do you mean better in slow tight corners as i'm sure the veyron handles better in a a longer faster corner

What makes you think that tom? the faster the speed it's going, the more g forces that it'll make in the bend... The heavier the car is, the more sideways force is acting on the car and therefore tyres.

Also nurburgring is an extremely technical track I don't think there's one that's worse! it's got 138 bends or whatever goes up and down all over the place.
