Is there a law on what type of chair you have to have for work?
Basically I have this standard fabric, low back "school" chair which is a touch too high for my table, and OMGZ am I getting some hardcore back pain. Its a mixture between my car seat, this chair at work and the lifting I do at my saturday job.
Help?

In my last job people occassionally had bother with the seats. They just got onto health and safety and got them swapped.

Ive got a rolls royce of an office chair 
Adjusts in everyway possible and the wheels are especially good for zipping around one

If you work at a computer then theres this:
THE HEALTH AND SAFETY (DISPLAY SCREEN EQUIPMENT) REGULATIONS 1992.
Ive just had my training to be a DSE assessor.
I havent got the exact reqiurements to hand today but your chair must be fully adjustable, height and backrest tilt. The standard is 5 arms\castors for stability.
Ill get the propper requirements and post them up later.

We had a test the other month, if we didnt reach a certain score we'd get new chairs.
I'd send you it, but unfortunatly you have to be registered

And what if you suffer in later life? WIll you be able to prove it was that employment that screwed your back up??? No chance, but you'll suffer because of it and all becuase of the fact he didn't ask for a proper chair??
The boys doing the right thing asking about it. Look long term and not 5 minutes in front.
People dont realise how much you can do your back in by not picking up heavy items properly, or having a chair setup correctly if your office based etc... Sure in the new few years, nothing, but when your older and suffering bad backs etc all the time......

Im suffering alot now. That accident did my back no good, i'm struggling with the seats in my car, and working at Wyevale at the moment is not fun.
Wondering if I should go see the docs or not...
Thanks for the comment Daimo - but "boy"  . Only messing, I just want somoething to throw in my employers face and say "there, i need a new chair".

report it to your H&S rep who will carry ut a review on your position etc, may need to go docs but they then HAVE to proveide you with a chair designed for your job the ones we use at work are worth a fair few £££ due to 12 hour shifts

Your chair has to be height adjustable and have an adjustable back... If it's not right then you'll fuck your back over. It's stupid how the law doesn't protect shcool children though as they are most vunerable whilest growing.
