Went to lock my car last nite and i couldnt even use the central lockin so thought "shit" i must have left the interior light on, so i got up early today and stuck it on charge. after a couple of hours it hadnt moved and i looked thro all my reciepts and noticed there was no sign of battery change, and the battery was a genuine vaux one so i guessed it was the original one from 8 years ago, so off i went and bought a new one.
Got back had a mare fitted due to 8 year old bolts snapping! to only find the alternator had packed in, the car started up, but was idling at 1100rpm, and when i turned the rear window heater or air con on the revs didnt drop, i have also lost my power steering as the car shuts it off when the alternator stops to alow maximum time before the battery drains
How much do you think i will be looking at for a new alternator fitted?
