Just wondering really, what are the weights of engines:

X16XE from a 1.6 Sport
C20XE from Calibra
C20LET from Calibra

How would a stripped 16XE fare up against a C20XE with full interior etc?

I see Dave A is getting 200bhp from a 1.6

How much would this cost out of interest?

I have a 1.6 Corsa sport on a 2000 plate, with filter and exhaust/decat and just wondering of the cost for 200bhp from this engine?

Thanks

O.M.G canofworms.

C20XE is about 70kg heavier IIRC.

200bhp from an X16XE is nothing

Oh, cost wise, you're looking at about £5k, roughly.

Either that or wind erosion has worn down the new engine

yes for power, depends if your just after easy power, or a light small rev tastic engine

i would go down the cams/headwork/inlet etc on the 1600, get around 140-150bhp and use that

Like I say, that's a rough price, plucked out of the air.

You'd need

Throttle bodies (with fuel rail, inlet manifold, linkage)
Cams
Headwork
Management
Mapping
Exhaust
Exhaust manifold

plus any little other bits, like injectors, filter etc.

Totally depends what sort of car you want though. Personally, I'd go for a tuned N/A engine every time in a Corsa, but if you're only bothered about numbers, the LET is the 'easy' way to 200bhp, yes.

I guess coming from a 310bhp MR2 GTS, I like to be thrown back in my seat, which is why I'd rather a LET

Quite a bit in weight difference then! Only thing that bothers me in an XE is that you'll struggle to outdo a Saxo VTS!

but then again, I would imagine with the corsa weighing less than a pea, a LET would induce muuuuuuucho wheel spin

yes, which is bad, then you need a diff, and alot of other things as well for the conversion

1600 is a good engine, and newer

My 1.6 seems fairly nippy and it's got all the interior in so I guess semi stripped and some tuneage it should be pretty sweet.

Cams, verniers, inlet, remap, exhaust, headwork.

150bhp or so, depending on the inlet.

For that money he could have throttle bodies and exhaust surely? That'd give him 150bhp and sound amezzin
