Right i was buying a new car...

and then my corsa looked at me in a different way and said i wishes to remain my property as a sleeper...to give him a new heart and make him go faster

i want an c20xe conversion...only thing thats stopping me is where, problems, and how much!!???

i think id enjoy have a 2 litre corsa more than a 106, saxo, mgf, zr, 172 and all the other options at the moment just because its a shitty corsa

want a little project and after advice on costs of conversion...baring in mind i have little to NO! mechinical knowledge to me

if its all too much ill have to get a different car and regret ever having a "XE"

so ALL advice from people that have owned them..also facts on 1/4 mile times and ALL problems to arise...cost is the main thing as also considering 2 cars...the corsa for weekends and a solid re around for the daily driving

cheers rob

If you have no mechanical knowlege or experience then its not something Id recommend as an introduction to working on cars. Do you have any mates who could help you?

Budget wise Id say £500- £600 plus the cost of the engine but bear in mind that unless you have a rebuilt XE it is likely to have a lot of miles on it

tbh mate the cost will be relative.

a lot of people on here can tell you where to get it done etc.

pay peanuts dont expect it to be fine.

budget a lot more than that for a rebuild. piston rings are £100 a set, bearings are around £80 for a set, then theres a crank regrind or polish, rebore/hone, new headbolts, headgasket, full gasket kit, timing belt kit................

no mounts made for vxr engines yet, well there is but there not on sale and there for a nova anyway and the wiring seems pretty difficult to work out but management can sort that

Yeah, I saw the thread. I was gonna mention the wiring thingy. Seems a bit of a pain in the ass to do.

Would be a mint conversion though.......LET power without the weight.....

yep direct swap. its not worth the hassle of drilling the block for oil feeds changing pistons and trying to find all the correct sensors its far easier to buy a full LET

Mine cost £1k to convert minus the cost of a new custom exhaust.
