I really badly suffer from Arachnophobia...
I think it is because I watched the film 'Arachnophobia' at a young age, and it freaked me out - making me 'feel spiders crawling over me' during the film and every time I tried to sleep for weeks after. I used to wake up and 'see' (obviously how your eyes play tricks in the dark) spiders walking around my wall in the night.
I've since seen this film again, and it's shocking how crap and unrealistic it all is... yet somehow it's left a long term phobia in my mind.
Strangely, no other insects worry me...
Now the other day, I came into my uni room and saw a spider in the corner of the room. Now my uni room is tiny, like 2 meters by 2 meters (no joke) ... it's like a cupboard, with a single bed going from wall to wall (I had the biggest room at our last student house and this time i drew the short straw).
Anyway, the fact this spider in the corner wasn't moving, I could easily live with it and left it to live it's life in the corner.
Woke up the next day and it was gone... oh well...
Was sitting there now watching a movie at my desk in the dark, then out of the corner of my eye I saw something moving right next to my face... I slightly turned my head and saw it was that fucking spider with it's long legs and oversized body. CUNT!
So jumped up grabbed my torch and it moved and hid on the curtain (in the fold).
Problem is, now just seeing it, I feel all 'tingly' like I can feel it constantly crawling over me, despite it being no where near me! ... plus I now don't want to go near the curtain or my desk.
I know if I don't see it again or don't kill it, if I sit at my desk again I'll imagine it's near me. Plus with the room being so small I could probably touch each wall with each hand while standing, it's not far for the spider to travel while I'm sleeping
Fucking cunty spiders.
Anyone else suffer from Arachnophobia?
The thing is, you get treated like a pussy by people who arn't scared of them, coz it's just a little insect. If this was any other insect or creature I'd have no probs, just for some reason spiders are a phobia which makes my body freak out.
I'm tempted to yank the curtain and kill the fucker but I haven't got any real weapons to hand. Plus I hate the way spiders are always still or slow moving till u try to attack / catch it, and then they go rapid...
Agrrrrrrh
Anyone else afraid of spiders???

thing is, the spiders not visible now... I assume it's in the curtains still... but I want to go to bed... and will quite happily, with my eyes shut and asleep I don't care...
but it's the fact tommorrow I want to sit at that desk... So I won't sit there unless I know there's not a spider in the curtain... and therefore I'll have to look at the curtains and take action.
Now, in a weird sense. I'd PREFERE the spider to be there. If I can't see the spider tommorrow, i.e. its not on a wall somewhere or anything. Everytime i do anything in my room I'll be checking for spiders, not to mention in shoes etc.
Should've just killed the fucker... problem is, I know there's no way of letting the spider out of this room, as the windows will be shut and the doors shut most of the time...
hopefully it'll die.

My missus always freaks out 'cause I dont kill them I just pick them up and put them outside. I don't see what the problem is personally. The worst it's gonna do is bite you

I feel similar towards spiders, except when I see it - i'll stop at nothing to get it out of my room even if it means waking up the rest of the house to get it for me.
Once I had one trapped between a birthday card and a pint glass, and when I was about to drop it out of the window, it started bouncing around in the glass - I freaked out and just launched the glass out of the window

glass and a piece of cardboard will get rid of it, while you've captured it force yourself to look at it and realise how puny it is, this is how i got over my fear of them they still need to get the fuck out of my room though if i see one

i had the exact same thing as you mate after watching the film. i used to be fine with them when i was really young. i remember getting shouted at at primary school because i used to pick them up and chase people with them. also my dad used to have a tarrantula and i wasn't freaked out by that at all.
then i watched that fucking film and developed a phobia for a long time.
i'm still not a fan of spiders but i've learnt not to fear them. its mind over matter for me. if i see one in my house i always kill it and more often than not i use my bare hands to do it.

Crickets, Grasshoppers and Meal worms, it could have locusts but they can be too big. She only eats every couple of months though
