i was told ages ago that theres no legal minimum wage for apprentices, its up to the company what they pay you.
cant remember who told me that though. but if the apprenticeship is through a college ie they find you a job then most wont accept lower than £90 a week nowadays.

Apprenticeship and training pay
Sometimes there are agreed rates for certain stages of an apprenticeship. This means you may get pay increases when you have a birthday, achieve a qualification or reach a certain standard.
Minimum wage rules do not apply to all stages of an apprenticeship. 16 to 18 year old apprentices are exempt from the minimum wage.
Apprentices aged 19-25, who are in the first 12 months of their apprenticeship, are not entitled to the minimum wage until the second year of their apprenticeship.
Pay may vary depending on your “status” as an apprentice. There is a general agreement that "employed" apprentices should be paid a minimum of £80 per week for a 35-hour week.

I used to get less that minimum wage when I was an apprentice. Shite waste of time in the end.

There is no minimum wage as such
BUT dont be fooled into thinking they can pay you what they like
For certain ages there is a minimum they MUST adhere to
The company I worked with was caught out paying me too little,
Try and find out from a local careers office or job centre, I found the info from the careers advice centre but that was around 4years ago now.

In most cases yhere isnt one, they get you to sign a training agreement to be on a training grant while they sponsor your apprenticeship.
Im earning £90 a week at the ripe age of 25

im 2nd year aprrentice at 17 years old and im on £5.50 an hour. I must be loved lol

Just depends really, some places may decide to pay you a set amount increasing a small amount each year for say 4 years.
The one im doing you get buttons for the 1st 18 months at college (I think partly so there not throwing money at young lads living away from home & who might not make the academic grade required) then you go straight onto 20k then 45k 24months after. I dont mind being a 90 quid a week apprentice bitch for now because I know im guaranteed a top notch job from my employer. Its taking the rough with the smooth.

when i was one i got £4 an hr so 40hr week cleared £140 a week

this is why i cant go for a modern aprenticship now im earning 300 after tax a week and cant afford the cuts lol really wish i could as i want a creer change

im on nearly £5 a hour at the min but get a pay rise in april. used to love it when i was working nights tho on £9.50 but prefer it now havin less money at the min TBH

if your making 300 per week after tax then doing an apprenticeship in motor trades anyway would be pointless as thats roughly give or take what youll get paid when you qualify after years of shit money..
the 1st year apprentices in my work start on 40 quid per week. 1 pound per hour.

a lot of apprenticeships in the construction industry (whether that matters or not) get paid 4.05 an hour at 16 or 17, i think it is about 160 pound a week or thereabouts.
