I was in the petrol station filling up with my friend tonight, and i did the normal thing i do and thats place the filler cap in between the pump trigger and its surrounding frame. and my mate was over the moon thats mint what made you think of that i said ive always done it since i first had my car, and he goes ive never seen that done before, im just woundering if im the only one picture to show what i mean below
put the highlighted part of this

between the trigger and its metal surround bar

outcome is you dont have to hold the trigger and the pump clicks off itself when the tank is full like all do nowadays

HGVs usually have a piece that fits there and is specifically made for it.
Ive never done that myself as I never fill the tank right up, dont see the point in lugging around 50-60 litres of fuel? £25 I put in everytime I go.
Edit: Will do it with the work vans in the future though, stand there for ages filling up like £80

99.9% of the time the little metal bar has been taken away so you cant do it, although the clips still there.

Most pumps have these removed as you're supposed to hold the pump at all times. When I worked in the petrol station you had to ask people to hold the pump before authorising it if they weren't holding it.

Aye fuck face , Just tried it there and when it hit £60.00 i knew something wasnt right, bucket of sand later and an un-happy Asda worker.
Now i have faded plastic arches and you owe £8 for the extra fuel.
