Wes Brown did everything asked of him, i didn't see any mistakes, he had a good game imo

There is no other english defender who plays right back week in week out for his club who is better than him

Rooney had a good game, as did gerrard

I thought Bentley did ok, but he had a few to many misplaced passes and some dodgy crosses, although he has potential.

Cashley played shite

EDIT - Oh, and didn't brown make the tackle and play the ball to Gerrard which started the move for the first goal

What gets me the most is he is very consistent for united, but no-one believes he should get a chance for England, good on capello for picking players on form imo

WTF

Quiet first half yeah but we took ages to settle, thought he was imaginitive in second half and put a few great passes together and made our second.

I reckon rooney or bentley deserved motm, bentley was awesome imo.

Brown made several mistakes in the 1st half... richards is till a far better RB than brown!

Ashley COle probs should have been left out altogether due to his 'home' situation

Rooney and, dammit, Bentley were excellent

good perf all round in the 2nd half... plenty to work on IMO

I'll admit i didn't see much of the first half, but was these mistakes actually mistakes, or things you have picked up on because you hate him

Just asked a mate who watched the whole game, appears he gave the ball away a bit in the first half, wasn't the only one though and i doubt it'll change Capello's opinion

Good performance I thought.

Ok, we wern't great in the first 25/40 minutes, but what did you expect havinng only been together a couple of days, and a team with players who aint used to playing together, and a formation they wern't used to.

Second half was much better, crisp passing, hardly any long balls (Beckham) and good movement, created a few oppertunities, and could have easily scored more goals. Got caught napping with the Swiss strike, but was just after a substitution and players still moving into correct positions. Good stirke as well, took James by suprise

All in all a good game, and a good win. You can see what Capello is trying to do with the team, and with a few more games under out belts, it will look much better. Personally I couldn't care less about winning games at this stage, its nice to win, but i'd rather us built a solid base for when the World Cup qualifying starts.

Hats off to Bentley (I still dont think he should be playing) had a good game, as did Joe Cole.

My for a rant - Why the fuck were the England fans booing after about 25 minutes when we were knocking the ball about They didn't seem to be booing a few seconds later when we created a chance. They also didn't seem to be booing when we were winning 2-1 and knocking about at the back, they were Ole'ing

People need to realise that were not a fantastic team who will beat everyone 3/4/5-0, if we were, we'd be in the Euros. Were a team going through a transaction itional period, with new players coming in who are inexperienced at this level. We need to be getting behing these players, and taking positives from the games we play, not looking for every single mistake & slating them everytime we play.

Well done to England tonight, an very poffessional performance, and good win to start with for Capello

not a bad performance as you catn really criticise as frist game together!!
barry was quiet, not as strong as last few games.
gerrard wernt bad but was no captain fantastic, showed little passion compared to soemone like rooney or cole!
rooney and cole played excellent, cole probably the best english player in the past year or so!!
bentley didnt play his best but showed he has what it takes to evenutally take that position away form Beckham!

motty knocked it on the head.

'rome wasnt build in a day'

bottom line guys, we won. there goal was caused by 2 subs when we fell asleep for 1 minute and a young swiss player capitolised. but considering we had 4 training sessions before the first game, it worked. second half we settled down and looked in control when passing the ball around.

given time with the same formation and same team i think capello will do well. he made tactical subs which were players replacing players in there natural postions

anyone remember the croatia game?? barry goes off when were 2-2. and bent comes on???? thats were cappello scores higher.

It was a crap performance against an average team but like Motty said Rome wasn't built in a day. I thought Bentley played alright but the full back had him in his pocket for pace which is always going to be a problem at international level. The atmosphere at Wembley was alright it'll be interesting to see what Capello does next game.
