right our group of friends normally have a get together every year, we normally go for a weeks holiday to bournemouth as we all love the south coast.
we enjoy bournemouth as its got a bit of everything and normally go to a few bars in poole too.
altho this year we want to try somewhere else down south.
were looking for somewhere that like bournemouth has plenty to do, shops, surf/sea/sand, arcades are always good if the weather is poor lol, bars places to eat out & nightlife. even better if its mostly in walking distance as we dont want to be driving everywhere all the time.
we've had the idea of weymouth but none of us know what its like as we've never been before .. any one got some suggestions?
[edit]
abroad is a no no so has to be somewhere on the south coast of england where its warm-ish

Newquay is full of chavs (and I hate using that word as its overused anyway) but the place was foul last summer, dirty streets, stunk of piss on the highstreet etc.
Weymouth is more Yachty.
Portsmouths a good shout but probably wouldn't be the same as you get in Bournemouth.
Southampton's pretty good, plenty of clubs and bars; only problem is that they're so far apart. Bars are all on London Road and Bargate and the bigegr clubs (Ikon Diva, Jacks etc) are at the opposite end of town.
TBH if your going for long enough, rent a cottage in the enw forest between you and do Bournemouth, Southampton, Portsmouth, Chichester and so on - just have a designated driver every night

Weston Super Mare, Bristol is only down the road.
The money it costs to stay in the Uk for a week you could get an Easyjet flight to spain and have a week there.

all good ideas guys.
i must admit i didn't like Newquay last time i went as we had a fair bit of trouble weymouth is a maybe (altho seems very yacht orientated), Southampton is a good shout as looks a big place with plenty to do , again portsmouth seems ok.
Lee: like your idea about renting a cottage sound great so may have to ring a few places.
Nismo: would love to go abroad but a few of us have to get passports and with how long it normally takes we've decided to just stick with the uk once again

Exeter is nice in the summer, I've been there a few times and there's a fair choice of beaches too (sand/stones) so whatever floats your boat.
