After not having anything to drink for a couple of weeks, we yesterday went to watch Leicester Vs Blackpool at Blackpool.
Every time I go out now I accumulate injuries, they get seemingly worse every time. Yesterday was no exception. I was in hospital today getting my left ankle xrayed and my right knee checked out after doing some pretty severe damage. It turned out to be a badly sprained ankle and knee I also cut my hands up too falling over.
As time has gone by I dont remember anything from any night I go out now, I dont remember how I did my ankle and knee in yesterday either.
Its not as easy as just not drinking as much coz it doesnt work like that, you get carried away and before you know it your wankered.
I'm scared i'm gonna myself a real bad injury one day and am considering just quitting drinking completely, maybe an odd bottle here and there but just not getting drunk again.
12 years of going out and partying now, maybe I just need stop for a while.

Lager. I've tried having a night strictly on Cider and it didnt make a blind bit of difference. I stay well clear of spirits.

Oh. I thought you were gonna say 'everything' and then I was going to suggest you choose one favourite and stick to it.
If you already do that it must just be down to quantity and pace.
Do you normally have a lot?
What lager do you drink?

Usually I stick to what lager I start with, say Kronenburg or Carling Extra Cold. On a night out its usually between 12-16 pints I would have thought. Up to a year ago though I would go out and not injure myself, more recently I'm getting injured every week.

Is that not normal for a night out with the lads? I'd say I drink a similar amount on a night out in town

I think thats pretty average, it sounds a lot but its really not when you consider it over an 8 hour session at 2 pints an hour.

drinking kronenberg would make a big difference to drinking carling that extra percent makes a hell of a difference. I'd say just use your head a bit, you don't have to have a drink in every pub, I haven't been drunk to the stage of not remembering for years, stay sober and watch people who are stupidly drunk acting a dick, its this kind of thing that has put me off drinking heavily.

Its horrible being sober when everyone else is drunk though, if I packed up the booze, I probably just wouldnt go out in the town at all.
I think I need a decent woman to keep me on the straight and narrow.

I've been doing drink a bit longer than you and I would suggest you are over doing it on sessions.
We don't remain in our teens all our lives....I used to neck 8-10 pints in a club on a thursday and make work on a Friday.
These days I will fall asleep before getting wankered, if im 'totally' awake, i will drink until I fall asleep, but I do that at home.
Seems to me you are blanking out when pissed...or falling asleep, and the lager keeps you awake(ish)
If you want to go out drinking you really need to make a decision to stop at a certain point (number of drinks or time...whatever) when I was on the lash I learned that when I woke up in hosptal having 200+ stitches in my face

Once i've started though and passed the 6 pint mark there's no controlling how much i'll drink, my brain wont consciously make the decision to not drink anymore and there's nothing I can do to change that.
As for the 8-10 pints then going to work, I used to do that too coz worked on a saturday and that was when friday nights were the big night out. Going back to 1997 ish.

Fuck me
12 to 16 pints would probably put me on my arse too.
I can drink 12 or 13 pints of Guinness over a long night with no ill effects and no (or next to no) hangover, but strong lager would make me drunk and give me the hangover from hell.
I'd suggest drinking a weaker lager, having a top in each one, eating loads before you go out, going out later and trying to not exceed 7 or 8 pints Tiger.

Also, only take cash (no cards) and only enough to get you a limited amount of booze and then home afterwards.

Thats the other problem, drinking with my mates isnt that easy, if its their round, you drink what they drink, and there aint no weak beer or tops involved As for going out later, some days start at about 11am - especially if its a football day. Thats an area I need to look at first.
