For £2000?
Nothing too steep on the insurance, was looking at 306 1.9 D Turbos, cheaper to insure than my corsa was but much faster
Anything considered really, fire on some suggestions.

Stay on your own insurance, don't go on someone elses, you'll regret it when you've got no no claims but you're 19 or whatever.
and don't buy a Subaru Impreza 1.6 either
I'd go for the 306 if you like them.

I really do like 306s, its just I cant bloody find a decent one, seems those bastards in Northern Ireland have taken all the good ones, and im not going that far for one
Going to have to go to glasgow at least, might even have to venture into england
Shep, gtf with a saxo, i stated a rule with myself a year ago to never buy a 106 or saxo

It's missing the thing which makes the good Imprezas good.
It'll also cost LOADS more to insure than any other 1.6 saloon car because of the badge.
An A3 for £2k would be a dog too.

just get a saxo or 106 or corsa or fiesta, just a little car to run around building up ncb.
no point buying something nice only to crash it (everyone has little bumps).

ye its missing the thing that makes imprezas good but its still a nice car. an you would be suprised that they are really not that much to insure because of the badge. i can insure one for as much as a 1.2 corsa wich is cheaper than an astra, a3/a4 and every othe 1.6 ive got a quote for

id try going under someone elses name for insurance tbh
i had my own from day one and first premuim was 2400, gradually came down over the first 5 years.
mate was under his dad till he was 21, he was paying in and around 1k with no ncb on a vts saxo at 21. even with all my no claims i would have been paying the most of that and i had lost a fortune on paying higher premuims
306 ticks alot of boxes altho they are a heap of scrap really and way overpriced for a fresh one imo

My insurance on "my" punto is £600 quid on my mums, she has an awfull insurance history too
by going on a family members all you are doing is putting off paying a fortune for a few years
makes sense IMO Il pay a fortune when I can afford it next year
