Random question. I was just wondering if anyone would know how I would go about meeting any living ex pilots who fought in the battle of britain? Is there a guild for the remaining?

One of our distant relatives, Grp Cpt. Tom Gleave, was a Hurricane pilot, shot down in flames but survived and became one of Archibald McIndoes first plastic surgery "guinea pigs".

Might be worth looking for something to do with McIndoe for some interesting back stories...

Sort of unrelated, but a relative of mine was shot down in the first bomber in Operation Chastise (think Dambusters) on May 17th 1943.

There can't be many suriving BoB pilots left now

The best people to speak to would be the BBMF.

They're just down the road from me, and they'll know if anyone does. My Dad used to work on the squadron next to them, and my Mum's been on a flight in their Lancaster.

Much appreciated guys. Also found an organisation containing ex pilots set up by the battle of britain memorial based down the road.
