My dad hired a 300c but it kept breaking, so we got a Dodge Durango in the end, good car. Can't remember the name of the company, but i'll ask him later for you.

Edit - Was called Doller

pmsl

I sent a 106gti into a field on some backroads

Absolute weapon of a truck!! This one was a 3500 Quad Cab with a special diff & suspension set up for off roading. It was a bit of a handful.

I don't see the issue what do you drive in the UK

Its for two to three weeks its a new car so not going to be to bad I would not be to bother.

Its only to get from a to b

My point is that I thought it was expensive, just priced a saloon car for the same price on dollar. I wouldnt of minded something nicer but not paying a fortune! We plan to be doing a bit of driving in it so wanted something abit bigger especially with a 2 year old in the back

I'm going to Florida in June with Virgin holidays, the car rental is with Dollar and we paid extra to get the convertible - Chrysler Sebring or equiv. I heard people say that you should just book the basic car and then you can pay/get a free upgrade when you pick the car up? Would rather pay now to get what I want though even if it's a bit more expensive.

We hired a Hummer H2 through Hertz, used the AA code which gives you 10% off and all insurances included. Worth joining the AA for that alone. You will need to provide the card. Also the AA get you discounts off everywhere that has the AAA show your card and save scheme, loads of places.

Just seen a Hummer for £1700 for the 2 weeks im there More than the holiday. The car above was £480 including my insurance, collision damage waiver, additional driver and the $25 per day and the $6 a day for a baby seat, just upgraded it to a Chevrolet Equinox jeep thingy for an extra £50 for the 2 weeks, bit more roomy and comfortable inside for not much more, still robbery altogether though but what can yer do. I cant go through another company as she had already booked that hire car for us and I hadnt realised so could only upgrade!

Thinking again, car wasn't included as we are only in Florida for 4 days then going to New York. Cost something like £180 for the car for the 4 days including the insurance cover, etc. I'm over 25 so no extra charge.
