306, for £2k you'll probably get a mint PH1 or a high mileage PH3 HDi.

306 is a TD

I am looking for a diesel for around 2k at the min and the PUg HDi seems the only option to me

isnt there a reason for those deano arent they slower than a 1.2

I learnt to drive in a 1.7d and a 1.5 td both god awful to drive and not reallly fast enough to drive on a motorway. They should be banished to cycle lanes!

I'f you insist on a vaux diesel get a veccy or Astra diesel be easier to live with.

I'd personally look at Golf mk3 tdi's or 306 Hdi's

Astra Mk4 1.9 DTi if you can find one,

Failing that 306 HDi with some miles
Ibiza Mk3 1.9TDi (I dont liek them though)
Mk3 Golf TDi
Escort 1.8TD (Good little cars, 2k should pick up a good mileage Ghia one - all the toys)
Rover 220TD (Good for a runabout)

zx Vulcan Turbo D

Pritty quick, i sold one for £200 with 160k and it hadnt ever broken down. Would mabee say it was quicker than a corsa sport 1.6 as well
