all you need is a full license I think.

I test drove one at 17.
Only a 1.4, but I was serious about driving one.

depends on the garage
Some dealers require you to get a cover note for the day whereas others just require a copy of your DL

any car sakes garage that doesnt have full road risk insurance isnt worth dealing with. go to a decent garage that have their own full insurance, if they are skimpimg on the basics its more likely that the cars arent that good.

and some don't ask for either if you turn up in a car of your own...

My dad gave me a lift to a garage and I test drove a car. For all they knew I could've not had 1 driving lesson.
Didn't ask for license or anything.

Skoda didn't know if I was covered to drive a vrs or not so had to let my dad drive it.
I was buying a vrs anyway though even without a testdrive, test drive was only to check that particular car was alright.

we test drove a few cars recently, and it really depends on the garages.
The Seat Leon 170 FR - they wanted a drivers licence but let us have the car for 30mins on our own. That was on there own insurance.
Carcraft west midlands (car supermarket type place) let us drive as many cars as we liked no issues at all and no proof of insurance or driving licence. 15 min test drive but they did come with you.
My advice is go to a good dealer or if you can find one a car supermarket as they are desperate to sell the cars.

I Me and my pal test drive cars on a saturday afternoon when we're bored.
We've had:
Honda S2000
Civic Type R
Jaguar S-type
Leon Cupra
Bmw 328
Bmw X5
Nissan 350z
and a Smart Car lol
All of them we didnt have a problem with and we always use the 'My gran passed away and left me a bit of money so im looking to buy right away'.
The X5 we had for a weekend through the dealers 'Live with it' promotion, was good fun.lol

I was 21 at the time of buying and look like a junkie tramp, only reason I went was because I couldn't sleep and had been reading briskoda all night, looked a bit worse for wear.

The one we got was the old type-r mate. We want to take the new one out but we're running out of garages and dealers to go to!
