Last night I went out in Reading, to a new bar called Dogma.

http://www.dogmabars.com/Reading.html

Kinda strange place, which is like a spoons with music downstairs and a small club upstairs.

Anyway, the place itself only has a capacity of about 500-1000 people and being the start of term the place was absolutely ram packed!

... They opened the upstairs area at 11, and generally most people headed up. My mate saw a sign somewhere that said capacity upstairs only like 250 or something.

But it actually looked like the whole club capacity was upstairs, everyone was up there, it was packed you could barely move, about 6 deep at the bar and having to wait about 45 mins to get a drink!

Anyway, the whole club's dance floor (upstairs) was full of people, and you could feel the floor moving. As people were like jumping / dancing the floor was moving up and down like it was made out of rubber. felt like it was flexing a good 5 cm up or down or whatever. Was waiting for the floor to give in at any point

Or do you think they designed the building for this? So it's meant to flex

If it was a proper dance floor then they are designed to be 'springy'.

Have been at a concert in Blackpool before and the dancefloor there does the same!

There's a Dogma in Lincoln and the dance floor is like that. It's weird when you first go on it, but it's supposed to be like that.

The capacity is probably based on the size of the floor and if it can physically fit people in ssafely without being squashed, more so than the weight of the extra people being a problem imo.

Dogma in Coventry was ok at first, went downhill when the Albanians and Nigerians discovered it.
