what do you generally write?
ive had enough for a while and today is the last straw..
pretty much im off sick and no one was answering the phones so i thought i would email my dept and it would be fine but instead i got some arsey reply back from someone there.. so its enough for me..
its not just that though, theres an accounts dept that dont do accounts, they get us to ring customers and chase money
then the computers never work properly
the heating is fucked, probably why im ill!!
fed up with arsey customers and mechanics..
i do much more than anyone else in the dept and im not appreciated for it, or even paid more for it...

It is illegal to provide a bad reference.
But they can deny to give you one, which won't look good to next employer.
Most ref's will be
I confirm x worked at y during the dates of a and b and had the position of vibrator lubricator.

Yeah but IMO its rude to say you want a ref on your leavign letter, I always think its betetr to discuss personally
As you say, 99% of refs are std terms and also as u say, their denial is them saying bad things basically lol

I don't even mention it. I leave it down to the company im going to to ask for it. Of which I would only point them in the HR department direction of my previous firm (or highest official in the firm that I got on with if no HR).
Its just a way to check that your telling the basic truth with regards to previous employment.
