would make sense having several stigs, but then the lap times wouldn't be a fair comparison.

It is several stigs. A lot of car manufacturers only want their latest £300k supercar (which essentially is rare and expensive) driven by their test drivers they can trust! plus they want to get the best time possible for their car on that track (so that the car gets good PR) - thus they want their test drivers to get the most of it!

hence, their test driver dons a stig suit and takes it for a lap.

But I think they also have a 'normal' stig they use, and possibly a different one that teaches them how to drive in the reasonably priced car.

I heard recently about the ascari - when that turned up, the stig took it out, and then the ascari test driver took it out and did a lap 4 seconds faster. (it was in the wet mind).

end of the day we really dont know and no one does.

I would have guessed that it is various drivers, but what everyone says is based on there assumption.

To be fair if you watch the hamilton lap he cuts so many corners - watch it compared to others who actually go around the lines / hatching and you see why he was so quick.

the hamilton lap was a fix!
there was no way he would have done that time in the wet, and being so relaxed having a laugh!

everyone had higexpectations of him going on the show they had to make him look good due to the cash splashed out to get him there etc

Before his final lap, there was sweeping machines sent out around the entire track to get it as dry as possible.
