was doing about 40mph in a 30mph limit today, a c-max in front of me doing about 50mph and a gatso camera on the opposite side of the road flashed.
there are no speed camera markings on the road either side and there is also a central resevervation type thing in between both roads.
for any south east members, it's the speed camera right outside elite in dagenham, near fords.
my dad has gone through this about 40mph before on the road it's facing and it hasn't gone off.
can gatso cameras still catch you speeding even though there are no markings?
EDIT: as far as i know, it's a 30mph limit road, there aren't any houses but there is a bus lane and company buildings theres.

I thought they measured/calculated your speed by the markings, so without markings there i wouldnt have thought so

there are 2 normal positioned cameras near me just gone up, neither of which have the lines on the ground - whats up with that?!

The lines are to verify the car in the picture was going the speed claimed. They only need them for the radar cameras incase the radar catches something else. The Truvelos use two sensors a set distance apart so they don't need lines.
That's how I always understood it anyway.
Whether you got caught or not - learn from it.

if it does this its usually the shadow of ur car on the other side of the road which sets it off.

very good advice mate. people who know me personally know i don't usually speed on 30 limit roads as i had a non fault accident before on one which was not a nice experience at all.
will keep it to the NSL 60-70 roads when theres no one else about, if i feel the need to

What I understood is that on dual carriageways, the only cameras that can get you are the ones on your carriageway.
