Right i met a chick last week who turns out to be one of my mates ex's from about 4 years ago when we werent as good mates as we are now - problem is that she likes me and i like her but i dont know whether it would be out of order to take her out (she has asked me to go for a drink Sunday) they werent serious and it only lasted a few months - however its still a mates ex and i dont want him thinking im a james blunt as hes a decent fella.
They way i have thought about it is if the roles were reversed i think id be abit angered but i know hes a good lad and wont treat her like crap - likewise with me.
What are your thoughts on the situation??

Tell him you're going out with "insert name" and are excited, then when he tells you she's his ex... Play dumb See what his reaction is to it, if it's bad, back off. If he doesn't mind, face fuck her.

Talk to him first. Am I right in saying they were going out 4 years ago? Has he had girlfriends since? 4 years would make you about my age, 20. Still quite young. He has probably grown up, and moved on since then.
But still, it's worth asking him.

Yeah as suggested just ask him first. It wouldnt be a problem for me seems it was 4yrs ago and not really too serious.

She goes to live in Lanzarote for good in 12 weeks though  obviously can forge anything serious so could easily keep quiet about it - although i dont wanna do that as thats not me at all.

I was thinking of seeing how it goes and if it goes OK then maybe get her to ask my mate if he would be ok with her asking me out - kinda get out of it myself that way and i can play dumb to my mate lol

i split with my ex about 4 mnths ago, we were together nrly 2 years, i still love her to piece and think about her an awful lot.
i found out from one of her mates that 1 of my mates has been texting her a lot and hinted about getting together about 2 months after the split, i am furious, more so cos he would do it, i only knew him a couple of years, but still mates shouldn't, he knew how i felt about her, and i had to find out of her mate who i dnt know well at all, i asked said to him why he'd done it or if its really true, he said im right, im not his mate, sorry....wtf. im furious and i couldnt give a shit if he got run over 2moro
