I was meant to be going back home yesterday but with the strikes changed my flights to Monday, I just priced up the train ticket and its £184.00 for an open return. It was 112.00 last year when I went out so they are taking the piss on the price rise.

I have to be at the airport at 8.00am so national express is out (takes 5 hours), unless I stay in a hotel at the airport the night before, has anyone done this?

I thinking of renting a car and then dropping it off at heathrow can this be done?

Pick up at one location and drop off at another?

And can you get a cheaper train the night before if you can find a hotel?

I can get a cheaper train the night before but then the hotel costs put it the price up more

hence why was thinking national express the day before and then a hotel.

Car would be easier with the suitcases, might call around as I would imagine one days rental would be cheaper.
