I agree, I don't get to strike because I don't think I get paid enough.

I'd sack every one of them if it was up to me.

yeah I used to live in Hong Kong, and the national airline out there, Cathay Pacific had all their pilots threaten to go on strike, the bosses warned them if they did they would get the sack.

they went on strike.

and they all got sacked!

thats how its done, crappy overpaid muppets working in this country seem to be determined to fuck the industries up.

Same should happen to the Police officers who are talking about going on strike.

Why the fuck would you go through all the training etc and then demand a payrise.

They'll have known the conditions and pay of the job before they took it. Chumps. I hope they all get sacked

Their pay is lower than other airlines but they fly to some great places and the staff will generally have a few days away at each stop.

What he is basically saying is that if you like that lifestyle then stop moaning, or if you need more money in the bank to buy real things then go work somewhere that pays better but your night stops will be in less desirable places or if it is short haul, you won't stop at all.

I think its fully reasonable. He didn't become that wealthy by not standing his ground.

Bit of a difference with Police tbh as they don't generally have a choice about conditions.

They have a choice to leave the profession and pursue something else of they feel that they aren’t getting a good deal.

Except they're generally not going to side-step in to another job on the same money.

depends really, its not a job you can walk into without training, and the cost of training a load of new people would probably be less than just giving them the payrise they want. Not to mention the cost of business lost whilst you get these workers upto standard and into the field.

TBH though he is right doing what he is doing, as although this time it would be cheaper to give them the payrise, they will of set a precident of doing it once under pressure so would only happen time after time.

Plus 4.8% is not a bad payrise.

Cosmo, there are plenty of people willing to learn, they'd just need some training. How many people go to cabin crew interview days and get turned away for something trivial... a lot i'd say!

Plus there are crew from other airlines who could come in without the full training.

And there is transience of staff anyway, so there's already provision to train new people, just means that programme would get bigger. Not a massive cost and its short term anyway. A pay offer could potentially impact the company for years.

I would agree in most other cases but services like that I'm not sure about. Like I think nurses are underpaid for what they do. I couldn't do it.

Yes but then you would not choose to do the job in the first place. They are not paid a bad wage just does not seem alot in line with other jobs with less resposability.

Perhaps nurses and police officers are underpaid. My point is that they should know the pay and conditions before they take the job.

Why get the job and then strike for more?
