Actually, I've heard the reason why is coz MicroSuck are creating another server to detect people with mod'd 360's using XBL.
Probs bollocks though, they dunno why its having probs.

My xbl has been really pissing me off latley it freezes when I load up my guide button or friends list, takes longer than usual to sign in and disconnects from a few games.

Microsoft actually announced there was a problem. Due to the new users during the holidays.
Apparently they are giving a free XBLA game for compensation.
Whether the UK gets this free game however is a different story.

hmmmff, was working fine earlier, now when i hit xbox live in cod 4 menus it comes up 'You must have an active network connection to play online or sytemlink matches.'
that live playing up or is it my end?

Basically you have to go back, then go into the XB connection, and keep trying until it comes up. PS3 FTFW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
