Ok bear with me with this thread, im not a geek and dont know the techy terms so will describe best i can!

Came with a Saati? connection so i undid the case, there were 2 possible connections, plugged it into the left hand one.

Did case back up etc...

Plugged power in didnt recognize it Like it wasnt there, no error messages of sorts.

Then noticed it was USB compatible so plugged that in and it worked

Any reason the Saati one didnt work??

Is there a benefit to using it?

Probably need to install SATA drivers for your system or enable SATA in the BIOS.

You got any uninstalled devices in device manager?

Did you try the other SATA port? Some SATA ports are for RAID configs only.

Depends what your using the HDD for?

Its for everyday use and simple tasks liek storage you won't notice much difference.

USB 2.0 is 480Mbits/second where as dependant of your computer and disk you can get up to 3.0Gbits/second on SATA...

Is this an external drive I take it, if it plugs in via usb I doubt it has sata.

Maybe esata but you don't open the case for that.

Can't see properly in the picture but that'll be esata, there would be no reason to have a normal sata port on an external enclosure.

And when you had it plugged into the sata on the motherboard did you have the power adapter plugged into the drive?
