Why is, that you see loads of cars on here with the same set up of V6 brakes and Cesaro's, and they never have problems, but you do?

Spoken to a couple of people on here this morning - all of them bolt straight on and the wheel fits back over the top, mine won't fit even with a spacer

I need to grind some off the outer edge of the calliper, but haven't got a grinder and can't get hold of my mate who has one

I have even been trying to grind using my Dremel only just made a mark!

It has been done loads of times on here, from what I can see it hardly needs touching, probably about 0.5mm taken off the face but my dremel can't cope

I know Dave A did it to his Reylands, and does it on customers cars as well, including Turbo brakes behind Cesaro's which are a little bit bigger!

Just to check, bleed nipple does go at the top of the calliper doesn't it?

Ok, thats fine, I did just copy the old calliper to make sure and was hoping I had done that wrong so I could change it and it would fit, but it doesn't

They are cast in sand, they caliper is hardly an engineering masterpiece so it's fine to take a touch off. Though be careful!

I have the v6's behind my cesaro's and they needid a tad taking of them, but mine where off a vectra so i think they were a newer shaped caliper to the old 288's of the cavs ect.

see here http://corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=400235

Mine are the same calliper as yours then Linch, they have pads fitted from a 98-02 Vectra V6 so I assume they are the same.

How much needed taking off them approx?

I would never entertain removing material from a brake calliper, it has been pressure tested & certified for a reason.

nothing wrong with doing it, its a light skim. AP racing told me that its very common and that on my callipers I had about 3-4mm that I can safetly remove. its not a rotating or moving part anyway.

Yes, they are generally pressure tested to something like twice their operational pressure IIRC but it's just a personal choice that I wouldn't contemplate it.

In my eyes brakes are the most important thing which is why a brake upgrade is always done on my cars before a power upgrade.

The wheels are more precisely cast. The brake calipers tolerences will be massive, something like +/-1.5mm ast they are cast in sand and are just massive lumps of iron. Don't take anything off of the wheel basicly.

They will be able to cope with a lot more than twice thier working power. Stop.

I certainly wouldn't fancy grinding any material off a brake caliper, buy some bloody wheels that fit. I'm not sure what area you're intending on grinding but if its anywhere near either the top of the bridge or even worse the corner between bridge and pad backing I'd definately think twice, the stress in those areas is huge.
BTW I work for Caparo AP Braking and do know what I'm talking about, caliper testing is my day job.

You may well be able to do a neater job with a bench grinder rather than the hend held variety.
