Just looking for a bit of advice.. I've just had an M plate Impreza traded in at work and considering buying it just to tidy up and sell on..
Its an M plate with an STi badge on the back but I've not seen the HPi yet so not 100% if it is or not. Owner said it was running around 320bhp and he looked genuinely gutted to see it go.
I'd get it for £1500 but I'm just not clued up on what it would go for once I've cleaned it up etc...
Any info apreciated..

What's the mileage? Even if it isn't an STi you'd be getting a bargain unless it's a complete dug!!

Agreed in some respects, could there be an opportunity to make a quick buck here?

Bodyworks really good, has stupid rally mud flaps, different back lights and horrible wheels but apart from that its a clean car.. All I'd do is lower it, get standard wheels and lights and tidy it up.. It has a huge folder of reciepts and all reciepts to prove engine work aswell...

Thats all I'm looking at tbh... If I buy it for 1500 and spend £500 tidying it up I'd probably want to put it up for 3k and see what happened..

If it has a folder full of receipts and is in good condition then I'd say go for it. Will make a few bob.

Shit time to sell a car remember. It could be sitting around for months. It could blow. Is it worth it to make a grand MAX?

Don't mean to put a downer on things like But plans tend to go wrong and when there isn't masses amounts of profit to make it's always going to be risky for the hassle!

How do you know you'd make a grand? What if it sits there for an age and doesn't sell?

I said a grand maybe if you don't run into problems which is always more than likely.

I dont see selling it as a big issue.. I can do all the work myself so for the sake of a few days working on it a grand would be easy money...

I think niks point is it might be an easy grand or it might be a bill for an engine rebuild. If he loved the car that much there might be a reason for getting shot.

He bought a 53 plate WRX from us, just wanted something newer...
An engine rebuild wouldn't be likely as it wont go anywhere when I buy it, will just be sold and even if it does have mechanical issues I can do it myself..

I think its a pretty safe bet for making on.
Minor issue - if selling were that easy why did the owner not sell privately instead of taking a bad offer though?
