I can't imagine them attempting to market a 300bhp FWD car publically, and considering Volvo use the same floorpan and have 4wd stuff available for use with the same engine, Ford would be silly not to use it too.
It's already been done by a tuner, just bolts up apparently, so Ford wouldn't even have to re-engineer the car in too drastic a way.
We'll see though, maybe the money counters won't allow it

heard it's going to be priced around 22k mark so definitely should be as it will be competing with the likes of evo's and impreza's at that price.

Why would you attempt to put a deposit on a car that has not been finalised yet or no specs have been released

Crazy. I'm all for anticipation of what looks to be a great concept finally coming to production but putting a deposit down on something that's not yet fully spec'd or decided upon is madness. I would hope the deposit is fully refundable?

300ps and 4wd in the old focus would have been nice, i think it needs more, its quite a bulky thing

I'm interested to know whether Ford are getting the input again from specific manufacturers ie: Sparco for the interior, OZ alloys, Brembo brakes etc etc. Or is it just going to be just a slightly better and faster ST, with different wheels and bodywork? Hmm...
As for people putting deposits down without knowing the full details, I should imagine their deposits would be fully refundable?

Never ina million years... they have already publically stated that they MUST MUST MUST make money on this... the last RS lost between £2K and £7k depending on who you believe and cost what, £22/23k? If this is 300bhp and 4WD then its bound to be over £25k... BUT, who will pay that for a FOrd?

I did it with the new S3 before much was confirmed
I then cancelled it once it was, and I saw how much it was gonna cost for a similar spec to my GTI

That's what I was thinking, then when the details are definitely finalised they'll be non-refundable

The way it worked with 'my' S3 was the deposit was refundable and purely was to reserve a delivery slot, then when the details became available you went back and specced the car. At this point the deposit was for physical goods and therefore became non-refundable.
Only caveat I managed to arrange was that if the test drive did not live up to expectations that I woudl get back 50% of deposit but that was negotiated by me and wasnt std terms... as said, as soon as I saw the spec on the website and saw how much it would cost to just attain a similar spec to my golf (ie sat nav, xenons etc) then it went above £31k and i fucked that straight off

Peeps on the RSOC have been saying that Ford dealerships are not actually taking deposits at the moment, but just registering interest?

People said the same about the VXR being £20k and more expensive than some of its rivals....
Plenty sold though.
Its a Ford, its also an RS model (LOTS of pedigree), it will sell like like hotcakes.
I also heard it'll be more like £25k also.
