Name can be used aslong as you're not going limited, not sure about logo tho

If you are going limited, i think it depends if the old company was limited or not

surely youd have to change the name of the company? or take on its debts etc. like that bloke did with the cosworth brand
im sure he originally intended to let the brand go bankrupt then start up again with the same name. there were found to be legal implications in this hence he ended up buying the company for £1 but inherited its debt of however many millions to keep the cosworth name

I think that will have been a limited company, you can start a business in any name you want, whether it has been used or not, if you want a limited company, it has to have a unique name

say your company is called company A LTD, and the bust company is B.

As far as im aware, you can use company B's name, as long as you put on your letterheads, invioces etc 'Company A LTD trading as COmpany B.

Unless it was a name like 'Rover' or 'Leeds United' you'd be FAR better off using something else IMO.

The company that was bought for 1 pound was The MG Rover brand, it was bought from BMW in 2001

John Towers paid a quid for it

I agree, seems crazy idea to me. Surely a new name with a fresh approach, decent ideas and hard work will be a better bet in the long run. Starting a new business is hard enough without the added problems of a 'bad' name to contend with and improve.

PVD no longer exists. You could have taken over the company name when it was liquidated without the debts.

We considered it, but Pete had fceked it up far too much to repair the name.
