Hi there i'm new to corsa sport. I bought a low mileage W reg 1.6 corsa about 3 months ago. Since then i put 60mm nova springs and speedlines on it. I was well proud as i thought it was looking ace. On Friday i took it in the garage for an egr valve. When i came to pick it up it had been crashed wing, bonnet, headlight bumper were knackered and they said the steering arm had sheered causing them to lose control of it and go into another car. I was absolutely shocked and gutted but as i have told people what has happened they have said it is impossible for it to snap without any notice whatsoever, and the only time they snap is after an accident. Anyone heard of them going on here/ had it happen to them? The garage have agreed to fix the car but i arent sure what kind of job its going to be. Theyre also saying my rear springs are dangerous because they can take them out easily. interested in any comments/info thanks Dave

60mm rear springs with standard shocks can be a bit of a problem and could possibly be taken out easily if jacked up enough, ideally you want shorter shocks, as for the accident i had similar problem with KWIK SHIT. say you'll take legal action if its not sorted asap with whoever you want to fix it, its your car and you have the right to get it fixed where you want. all details in my project thread around pages 12/13 i think

if they crashed when they was driving it then there insurance should pay out.never heard of a track rod arm snapping.i had a bottom ball joint shear off on one of my old corsa's and it pulled the wing back/creased it.

I would be asking for a courtesy car and the work done for free due to the inconvenience!
Gutted for u tho! and there thinks dont just snap! clealry hes had the car out and smacked it!
Would go and get the work double checked also!

Cheers for that everyone, My dad had a look at the work today and it looks good so far, just needs painting now hopefully it will look ok. I think i'll get some shortned rear shocks, i might put a wanted thread on here. i'll keep you updated

Didnt Brad Finchams Red Corsa B do a track rod arm causing it to roll?? Uncommon but could happen! But yes if it happend while in their care then they should take full responsibility!

Yeah it did Col, that was scrivs old one... IIRC the 19s put so much pressure on it jus snapped on a bump and sent him flying!

I wouldn't push it too far as iirc having your springs too short for the shocks can be an MOT failure, so if the garage decide your taking the P*** and decide to argue it, they could pull that one on ya.

Ball joint on the wishbone I thought? Not track rod?

Not sure I just remember it being something down there gave way & caused the accident.

im sure scrivs old one was a lower ball joint.
Personally i have never steering a track rod arm break on any car unless there had been an impact!

Mate's bottom ball joint went on his LET, doing 85mph down a dual carriageway, spun twice and ended up facing the wrong way in the fast lane 
Never heard of track rod randomly shearing tho
