Between an audi A3 1.6 petrol and a 1.9 tdi?

ie fuel, services etc..

If you do alot of miles you'll reap the rewards of owning a diesel if not it will probably work out dearer. Servicing will probably be similar. Cost of the car to buy will probably be higher for a diesel.

Don't do loads and loads of miles, most prob up to 15k a year

Your looking at average 35mpg on the petrol, 44 (95% town driving) on the diesel.

Service on the diesel will be slightly more frequent. Diesel will be much quicker tho

Depends on a huge amount of variables, but you could see 50mpg instead of say 30mpg on a petrol car. I like mine because I can fill it up & it lasts me a whole week. In a petrol car id be filling it twice to get to where I go.

I saw 47mpg average, ragging, 90% town mileage on the TDi I had.

56 on the cruise doing 80-85

But it seems nice. Obviously been a company car, but not all have been ragged. My Dads A3 Sportback has never seen over 3k revs.

get the deisel, I LOVE the way mine drives, power comes so low down, very quiet to, i hate hearing an engine screaming

buy the tdi tom you will never look back, its good to see not every pow is worried about high mileage on a vag engine
