do you want to explain that a little further
insurance will be over 5000 a year imo
and no dealership will let you test drive a CTR at 17

Depends on the car, and the manufacturer.
Vauxhall will let you drive anything at 17, providing you have your license with you, with the exception of the VXR range, which they're not supposed to allow anyone under 25 to drive.
I'd imagine the same applies at a lot of places, and Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche etc will just tell you to piss off full stop at 17.

Does it matter?
It won't cost 5k anyway, unless he's a motoring journalist.

I have no idea if you are poor or your family have millions, I'm sure your parents would probably like to know how much they were going to have to fork out in insurance.
I think you may well be asked before test drives if you have ad insurance quotes etc that you are happy to pay.
